Counting our Blessings for Brazil.
Week 2: The Blessing of Education
In the courtyard of Mauá children play and practice the Brazilian national pastime- Capoeira. In Sao Paulo poor children can earn money for their families and so many drop out school. For those that go to school, the standard of free state education is very poor. In spite of a government grant paid to families to encourage them to send their children to school, it is not as much as the family could earn from the child working. In Divinea, CAFOD’s partner MDF helps to provide a childcare place for parents who want to work themselves.
This week, every time you take a child to school, give 20p for the poor of Sao Paulo.
